The development history of metal laser cutting technology

Metal laser cutting technology is a process that uses a laser beam to cut materials and is widely used in the semiconductor, electronics, aviation, automotive and other industries. The following is a brief introduction to the development process of metal laser cutting technology:

In 1964, P. Sorokin and M. (J. R. Lankard Jr.) of Bell Laboratories in the United States first reported the experimental results of using CO2 lasers for metal cutting. Due to the characteristics of high power and good stability, CO2 lasers will soon be widely used in the field of cutting metal materials.

In the 1970s, with the continuous improvement of CO2 lasers, the first commercial CO2 laser cutting machine appeared. During this period, laser cutting machines were mainly used for the manufacture of high-precision parts in the military and aerospace fields.

In the early 1980s, solid-state lasers began to be applied to cutting metal materials. This type of laser has higher power and shorter wavelength, which can improve the cutting speed and quality of materials.

In the 1990s, fiber lasers came into being. Compared with other types of lasers, fiber lasers have the advantages of smaller size, higher beam quality, and better optical path control. At the same time, the wide application of computer-aided design software also makes it easier and faster for laser cutting machines to perform customized cutting.

In the 2000s, laser cutting technology has been greatly promoted and applied, especially in the automotive field, which can efficiently complete the cutting of various complex parts. Modern metal laser cutting machines have achieved high-speed, high-efficiency, and high-precision metal material cutting.

The development history of China's fiber laser cutting machine can be divided into the following stages:

1. Early stage (1990s): China's laser cutting machine market is basically dominated by imported equipment. At that time, domestic fiber laser technology was still in its infancy, lacking core technology and mature production experience.

2. Development stage (2000 to 2009): With the support of national policies and the growth of market demand, domestic fiber laser cutting machines began to develop rapidly. In 2002, Shandong company developed China's first self-developed fiber laser cutting machine, which filled the gap in this field in China. Next, domestic manufacturers have stepped up research and development efforts and achieved a series of innovative results. For example, in 2010, Wuhan Jingu Robot Technology Co., Ltd. launched the world's first fiber laser cutting robot RDC-F1530-1000W, which can achieve efficient cutting of metal pipes.

3. Mature stage (2010-present): At present, China's fiber laser cutting machines have made major breakthroughs in technology, power and precision, and have gradually opened up the international market. Chinese laser cutting machine manufacturers have been able to occupy a place in several market segments and have promoted the rapid growth of the industry. At the same time, competition in the industry is becoming increasingly fierce, and more companies are constantly improving product quality and technical level to seize market share.

In general, China's fiber laser cutting machine has developed from scratch to high speed, which is a microcosm of the development of China's laser technology. In the future, with the continuous advancement of technology and the continuous expansion of application fields, China's laser cutting machine manufacturing industry will enter a more exciting new era.
